Economies of scale

I took a tricykat (bicycle powered tricycle) today... I take one most days.

It costs 4 peso ($0.08 USD).

I asked John, the guy driving when he started working.

6 am

When he finishes.

Midnight.

Then does it again tomorrow.

I asked the guy how much he makes in a day (not a rude question to ask).

180 peso ($3.60 USD)

Then he pays 40 pesos ($0.80 USD) to rent the bike.

He works 18 hours carting people around in wicked heat and makes less than three US Dollars (140 pesos = $2.80 USD)!!!

SHOCKING!

And yet, he has a job. Cost of living is WAY less here, and people are happier with much less. He's poor by my standards, but he's happy. There's lots that I have that he could want... but I also think there's much I could stand to get from him.

Hi Noel:

I remember that ever since you were in high school you used to sign all your letters and cards with the comment “KEEP ON GROWING”.

As I read your “bolg” this seems to be the theme of your trip. You seem to KEEP ON GROWING”. You are growing in maturity and values. For this I am most glad.

Love you Loads.

Hey Noel,
Its so great to hear all your stories and life lessons that your learning as you are travelling through the phillipians. It has been an incredible blessing to have the chance to ever so slightly share your journies through this blog.
I am defintely looking forward to having the chance to hear them in person sometime.
I am continuing to pray for you daily so thank you for sending me some prayer requests, it always makes it easier when you have specific things to pray for.
Also i would defintely love to buy a pair of those sandals, well a couple actually, i wear a size 8 1/2 or 9, my sister rahcel wears a size 10/11 and jaclyn wears a size 10. I dont know if you will have room to take them back with you but that would be wonderful.
God bless!
