- The sound of cats fighting is more common than birds singing
- Every time your taxi hits the brakes “It’s a Small World Afterall” plays
- You ate “lunch” around the time you’d usually eat dinner and ate “dinner” around the time you’d usually go to bed
- There’s a guy mowing a lawn wearing dress shoes and a button-down shirt
- The aforementioned lawn is the only patch of grass in the city
- You’re surrounded by some of the genuinely nicest people on the face of the earth
- Five times a day you can hear a call to prayer from any one of four different mosques no matter where you are in the city... but you don't seem to notice any more
- You know when the five calls to prayer are… and you know that the one at 4:30 am can be a little annoying sometimes
- When you meet someone, the next question after "What is your name?" and "Where are you from?" is "Are you a Christian or Muslim?"
