More than you'd care to know...

Since I made the effort of writing this all out in a recent e-mail to a friend, I thought I'd share it with you. Thanks JLS for making me think this all through!

How did you come to the Lord, and how are you growing lately?
My parents are Christians so I grew up knowing about a loving God. Made a decision to follow Christ initially when I was four years old. I became to understand what that decision meant more in high school and thankfully it has been a growing process since there. Lately, I'm learning more about my utter need to serve God wherever I am, about not putting stresses of uncertainty ahead of Him, about what it means to put God first. Sometimes the simplest lessons are the hardest to learn!

What are your thoughts on the Word of God?
Like it. I need to read it more. Want to cherish it way more than I do now!

Politics?
There interesting but frustrating. It's funny the extent that people will go to in order to obtain power over others. Since you asked... I think George W. Bush is a swell guy but has taken the countries foreign policy back a few decades.

People?
I like people. I like that I like people. I like most people, but some annoy the snot out of me. I need to be more patient with those people. I think I can learn something from every person... I just don't believe that some times!

Sports?
Love to play them, but I usually stink. Other than being a die-hard baseball fan when I was 11, I don't really follow any one sport too much.

Ministry?
I'm sorting out these thoughts still. I don't think I can see myself in a full-time ministry role right now... mostly since I'm still sorting out how I feel about it. I think our lives are to be ministry. I don't think I see myself being a "missionary" any time soon... but hopefully I'll be a missionary always. Clear as mud?

Teenagers?
Love some. Can't stand some. So glad I'm not one!

Books?
I can't read. Just kidding. I love to read, but I don't do it nearly enough. Getting better.

Learning?
Like it. Trying to do it more and always.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Hmmm... maybe working at a university either in student development or teaching. I'll be 34 (almost 35) so I'd love to be married with a munchkin or two... and maybe a golden retriever.

Do you want to travel more?
Yes... but not with the same frequency as this year.

Settle down?
I'd like to stay in one place next year. I'll call that settling down relatively speaking.

Go back to Canada?
Not right now. Why? I'm not ready for cold winters.

Raise a family?
Some day... just not today.

Join the circus?
Hmmm... tempting. I'd have to do something cool... I don't want to be one of the freaks!

What's the most beautiful place you've been to and the most special place?
Hmmm... I don't think my mind can identify the MOST beautiful place. I always have such high standards that I don't think anything can qualify as "THE MOST BEAUTIFUL"... but I think many places may compete. A waterfall in Thailand is one such place, a sand dune I was in recently could be another, or a waterfall in Western NY may be it!

How many in your family?
Mom, dad, and older sister (29 years old)
