Random musings

• This is the time of the year for "Khamaseen" (use your best guttural hack on the "kh") which means about 50 days of random dust and sand storms. Crazy!
• Why is a salad in a tortilla served with salsa called "South of the Border" in Egypt? SUDAN is south of the border!
• I never knew you could base a whole cuisine of different methods of cooking beans (falafel, tamia, fool... and the list goes on!)
• My time in Egypt has flown by (I leave Monday for a few weeks in Europe... while I'm in the neighborhood). I'm actually not certain if I'm ready to leave!
• I thought I wouldn't be able to wait to leave the big, dirty, crowded city of Cairo, but I've really enjoyed it. I have this feeling that I'll be back here again some day. Or maybe it's just the falafel talking
• It's been two months since I've heard anything about Paris Hilton on TV... I love Egypt!
